Saigon ESL Top Sites
Saigon ESL

Good Morning Steve,
Thank you for the links to Newton's Castle and the Do the Math. I just ran through them both and they are very valuable resources that teachers should know about. I added the Newton's Castle at Subject Specific section and the Do the Math at under both the Development and Readings and Other sections.

I think that anyone visiting the page will find the reading worthwhile and may be able to adapt the concept to their classes. Most of us in Vietnam are teaching ESL or business English, but a crafty teacher will find it very useful.

I have only had Saigon ESL up and running for about a month now and am still developing some sections. Everything you see is what I have used or found interesting during my 3 years of ESL teaching overseas. If I can expand the resources to appeal to a larger teaching audience, I would be more than happy to do so.

I have just finished my HCMC Resources and am uploading new pages. I also just went through all of the links you emailed me and I think they are great. I added them all to the Subject Specific section of the Teachers Resources and added a - contributed by Steve Feld by them to help them all stand out. I have had quite a bit of fun with them and just showed my girlfriend and she loves them too. :)

I am reading through the freedom of speech page right now and I love it. I am a big Frank Zappa fan and his Free Speech in Music vs. Tipper Gore back in the 80's is a true inspiration to me. Anyway, talk to you soon and thanks again for the links.

Edquest Resources

Hi Steve, > I'll review the site you have suggested. At first glance it appears to be a Think Quest site. Was it developed by students? Let me know. Thanks.

Dear Dave,
Thanks for your reply and interest. Newton's Castle was developed by students at John F. Kennedy High School. under the guidance of their coach Steve Feld. This ThinkQuest New York City project was done in collaboration with peer partners at the Thomas Hepburn School in England.

We would be delighted if you would provide a link to our site from the Sir Isaac Newton links on the Edquest website.

That is possible. I will try to get it up this weekend.

Good Housekeeping Site of the Day

Thanks! Will try to use it soon. I feature the educational ones on Fridays.

I've scheduled it for 10/07/05.

Here's a copy of the feature draft:
October 07, 2005
Newton's Castle

Our friends at ThinkQuest, the site that awards postings to student developed sites in their Library, have informed us of a recent addition, Newton's Castle. Newton's Castle is 'a fun filled educational adventure into the life and legend of Sir Isaac Newton.' As Newton himself said, "If I have seen further than others, it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants." Now you too can stand on the shoulders of this giant by taking this 'stimulating journey' into his revelations. "Learn about his discovery of Gravity and Optical Theories. Learn why cars roll uphill, why dogs chase cars. . ." After you've finished your tour of the Castle be sure to take the quiz for a preview of the Museum of Modern Art opening. Be forewarned, it's not the crip quiz that it appears to be!

Appreciate your thinking of us. I do the student/children sites on Fridays. The teachers will love this one!

Best
Gail O'Quin
