TQNYC Bootcamp Training

What is the TQNYC Boot Camp?
ThinkQuest New York City is pleased to offer free training for educators and professional staff to become coaches of ThinkQuest New York City teams.

The one-day (6 hour) session will cover how to implement the TQNYC program, a basic Web design tutorial, and collaboration techniques for bringing this exciting, multimedia-rich program into your classroom.

Outcome of the Day
Educators will come away from the Boot Camp with an understanding of the steps involved to complete a TQNYC project; ideas for developing engaging topics; tips for finding and qualifying research; a basic understanding of how the web works; and the completion of a 2-page website uploaded to the TQNYC server.

Skills Required
Some of the hands-on component of training includes "basic" web development. While this is a beginner class, we ask that you are comfortable in the following areas so that you may make the most of your training time:

  • Attaching documents to an e-mail message
  • Saving, organizing and moving computer documents
  • Using search engines
  • Navigating sites with web browsers
  • Principles of Project Based Learning
  • Learning along with your students

Experts are welcome! You'll get the opportunity to practice the guided partner approach to teaching technology. You'll assist your fellow educators on how to work through difficult tasks as well as gain new ideas for your own classroom instruction.
